TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Pink Style / Pink Style+ Electric Scooter Charger – 72V 5A
The 72V 5A charger for Pink Style electric scooters is designed for the Pink Style 72V 29Ah and Pink Style+ 72V 60Ah models, which are equipped with removable 72V lithium-NMC batteries. It offers a gentler, stable, and secure charge, ideal as a secondary charger for daily home use or when charging speed is not the primary requirement.
Thanks to its aluminum casing and high-quality electronics, this charger delivers a regulated voltage of 84V while limiting heat, thereby improving its reliability and service life.
🛵 Compatible Pink Scooters
- Pink Style – 1 x 72V 29Ah lithium-NMC battery (≈ 2.1 kWh)
- Pink Style+ – 1 x 72V 60Ah lithium-NMC battery (≈ 4.3 kWh)
All Pink Style models operate on a 72V (20S) architecture with a final charging voltage of 84V.
🔧 Technical Specifications
- Output voltage: 84 V (72 V Li-ion battery – 20S)
- Charging current: 5 A
- Compatible battery type: 72 V lithium-NMC
- Battery capacity: 29 Ah or 60 Ah
- Connection: Original Pink connector
- Cooling: Heat dissipation via aluminum casing (reduced heating thanks to 5A current)
- Built-in protections: overcharge, short-circuit, reverse polarity, overheating
📌 Original 83V vs. 84V: What we observe on Pink Style models and why it matters
For the Pink Style / Pink Style+, the original charger is, in many cases, regulated around 82.8–83 V, instead of the nominal 84 V voltage required by a 72 V (20S) battery.
This choice may be intentional (safety margin, manufacturer limitation), but in practice:
- Charging at 84 V just before use poses no risk to a battery.
- At 83 V, the battery never reaches its full charge.
- The BMS does not reach the true end-of-charge voltage, which limits its balancing function.
Consequence #1: reduced usable capacity
With a charge capped at 83 V, the battery permanently operates below its nominal potential. This typically represents 5 to 8% of unused capacity.
Consequence #2: incomplete cell balancing
The BMS balances the cells at the end of the charge, when they approach their maximum voltage (~4.20 V). If charging stops too early, the balancing remains partial and a progressive imbalance can occur over time.
A Source’IT charger regulated at a true 84 V allows you to reach the nominal end-of-charge voltage, let the BMS work within its normal balancing range, and utilize 100% of the usable capacity, without overcharging the battery.
Usage tip: charge to 100% just before riding. For prolonged storage, it is better to leave the battery between 30% and 60%.
⏱️ Charging times
-
Pink Style – 72V 29Ah
→ approximately 4h to 80%
→ approximately 6h to 7h to 100% -
Pink Style+ – 72V 60Ah
→ approximately 8h to 80%
→ approximately 12h to 100%
Charging times may vary based on discharge level, ambient temperature, and the BMS final balancing phase.
💡 Why choose this 72V 5A charger for Pink Style?
Gentler charging → ideal for limiting heat and prioritizing ease of use.
Total compatibility → Pink Style 72V 29Ah and Pink Style+ 72V 60Ah.
Exact voltage → 84V regulation compliant with 72V (20S) architecture.
Perfect as a secondary charger → home / work / emergency, or for a more "relaxed" daily charge.
🔒 Safety and compatibility
Is this charger safe for Pink Style batteries?
Yes. A 5A current is very comfortable for the 72V lithium-NMC batteries in Pink Style and Pink Style+ scooters. The 84V regulation and built-in protections ensure a reliable, stable, and durable charge.
FAQ – Pink Style / Pink Style+ 72V 5A Electric Scooter Charger
Is the 72V 5A charger compatible with Pink Style and Pink Style+?
Yes. This charger is compatible with the Pink Style 72V 29Ah and Pink Style+ 72V 60Ah (72V lithium-NMC batteries – 20S architecture). It delivers a regulated voltage of 84V, which conforms to the end-of-charge voltage of a 72V lithium battery.
Why choose a 72V 5A charger instead of a 72V 10A one?
The 72V 5A charger favors a gentler recharge, often associated with reduced heating and very comfortable daily use. It is ideal if you charge at night, if you are looking for a secondary charger (home/work), or if you do not need the time-saving benefit of the 10A model.
Is an 84V charger suitable for a 72V (20S) battery?
Yes. A 72V lithium-NMC battery (20S) charges up to 84V (4.20V per cell). An 84V regulated charger is therefore exactly the specification expected for a full charge and optimal BMS balancing.
What is the charging time with a Pink Style 72V 5A charger?
For Pink Style 72V 29Ah: approximately 4h to 80% and 6h to 7h to 100%. For Pink Style+ 72V 60Ah: approximately 8h to 80% and 12h to 100%. Times vary based on discharge and temperature.
Does the 72V 5A charger help preserve the battery?
A 5A current is very comfortable for a 72V lithium-NMC battery and often helps to limit heating during charging. To maximize longevity: charge to 100% just before riding, avoid repeated deep discharges, and store the battery between 30% and 60% for long periods.
