TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Pink Up-S / Pink Up-S Pro / Pink Up-S Max Electric Scooter Charger – 72V 5A
The 72V 5A charger for Pink electric scooters is designed for Pink Up-S, Pink Up-S Pro, and Pink Up-S Max models, equipped with removable 72V 29Ah lithium-NMC batteries. It provides a reliable, stable, and secure charging solution, perfectly suited as a secondary charger or a backup unit.
Thanks to its more compact design, aluminum housing with active cooling, and high-quality electronics, this charger delivers a regulated 84V voltage while limiting overheating, offering a more affordable and portable alternative to the original charger.
🛵 Compatible Pink Scooters
- Pink Up-S – 1 x 72V 29Ah lithium-NMC battery (≈ 2.1 kWh)
- Pink Up-S Pro – 1 or 2 x 72V 29Ah lithium-NMC batteries (≈ 2.1 to 4.2 kWh)
- Pink Up-S Max – 2 x 72V 29Ah lithium-NMC batteries (≈ 4.2 kWh)
All Pink models operate on a 72V (20S) architecture with a final charging voltage of 84V.
🔧 Technical Specifications
- Output voltage: 84 V (72 V Li-ion battery – 20S)
- Charging current: 5 A
- Compatible battery type: 72 V Lithium-NMC
- Battery capacity: 29 Ah (per battery)
- Connection: Original Pink connector
- Cooling: Active via fan – aluminum heat sink housing
- Integrated protections: overload, short-circuit, polarity reversal, overheating
📌 Original 83V vs 84V: What is observed on Pink Up-S models and why it matters
For the Pink Up-S / Pink Up-S Pro / Pink Up-S Max, the original charger is, in many cases, regulated around 82.8–83 V, instead of the nominal 84 V voltage required by a 72 V (20S) battery.
This choice may be intentional (safety margin, manufacturer limitation), but in practice:
- Charging to 84 V right before use poses no risk to a battery.
- At 83 V, the battery never reaches a full charge;
- The BMS does not reach the true end-of-charge voltage, which limits its balancing function.
Consequence #1: reduced usable capacity
With a charge capped at 83 V, the battery is constantly running below its nominal potential. This typically represents 5 to 8% of unexploited capacity, meaning slightly less range per cycle.
Consequence #2: incomplete cell balancing
The BMS balances the cells at the end of the charge, as they approach their maximum voltage (~4.20 V). If charging stops too early, balancing remains partial, and a progressive imbalance may appear over time.
A Source’IT charger regulated to a true 84 V allows you to reach the nominal end-of-charge voltage, lets the BMS work within its normal balancing range, and utilizes 100% of the usable capacity without overcharging the battery.
Usage tip: Charge to 100% just before riding. For prolonged storage, it is better to keep the battery between 30% and 60%.
⏱️ Charging times
-
Pink Up-S (1 battery – 72V 29Ah)
→ approx. 4h to 80%
→ approx. 6h30 to 100% -
Pink Up-S Pro
• With 1 battery: same times as the Pink Up-S (≈ 6h30)
• With 2 batteries: sequential battery charging
→ approx. 10h to 14h to charge both batteries one after the other -
Pink Up-S Max (2 batteries)
→ simultaneous charging of both batteries
→ approx. 8h to 80% / 12h to 100% for the set
Charging times may vary depending on the discharge level and ambient temperature.
💡 Why choose this 72V 5A charger for Pink Up?
More compact format → easy to carry or leave at a second charging location.
More economical solution → cheaper alternative than an original fast charger.
Gentler charging → limits battery heating.
Ideal as a 2nd charger for work, a secondary garage, or travel.
🔒 Safety and compatibility
Is this charger safe for Pink batteries?
Yes. A 5A current is perfectly suited for the 72V 29Ah lithium-NMC batteries of Pink electric scooters. The 84V regulation, active cooling, and integrated protections ensure reliable, stable, and long-lasting charging.
