📌 53.6V stock vs 54.6V: what Navee does and why it matters
On the Navee ST3 PRO , the original charger is often limited to 53.6V (instead of 54.6V). The manufacturer does this to prevent a fully charged scooter that has been stored for several days from remaining fully charged – which accelerates the wear and tear on the Li-ion cells. But in practice:
- Charging to 100% before driving poses no risk;
- At 53.6V, your 48V battery is never fully charged ;
- The BMS cannot properly balance the cells since it never reaches the actual end-of-charge voltage.
Consequence #1: Loss of useful capacity
A battery stopped at 53.6V is only using about 90–93% of its total capacity . Therefore, you'll start with a few fewer kilometers of range with each charge.
Consequence #2: progressive imbalance of cells
The BMS (Battery Management System) balances the cells only at high voltage, around 54.6 V. If the charge never goes that high, some cells drift: this causes, over time, sudden cut-offs , reduced autonomy or pack failures.
Why the 54.6V Source'IT is relevant
The Source'IT 54.6V – 2A charger reaches the nominal end-of-charge voltage, allowing:
- to recover 100% of the usable capacity ;
- to rebalance the cell pack via the BMS;
- to stabilize the battery over time and extend its life.
Tip: Charge to 100% just before riding. For long-term storage, leave the battery at around 30% to 60% .
💨 Performance and Profits
- Charges 70% faster than the original charger (1.3 A);
- Active cooling : prevents overheating, prolongs the charger's lifespan;
- Electronic regulation : stable voltage and constant current;
- Soft charge preserving Li-ion chemistry;
- CE certification and individual testing before shipment.
❓ FAQ – Navee ST3 PRO (48V – 54.6V 2A)
➡️ Does 54.6V damage the battery?
No. 54.6V is the normal full-charge voltage for a 13S pack. It's the only value that allows for complete BMS balancing and optimal capacity. What damages a battery is storing it at 100% or 0%, not fully charging it before use.
➡️ Can I alternate between my original 53.6V charger and the 54.6V Source'IT charger?
Yes. Perform at least one full charge to 54.6V every 2 to 3 weeks to allow the BMS to balance . After the indicator light turns green, leave the charger connected for an additional 30 to 60 minutes.
➡️ Is a 2A current sufficient?
Yes. 2A corresponds to a standard charge, but it's still 70% faster than the original charger. This doesn't cause your battery cells to heat up at all.
➡️ How long does it take to charge a Navee ST3 PRO?
For a 12.5 Ah battery, expect approximately 6 to 6.5 hours. The last 30 minutes are often spent balancing the cells by the BMS.
➡️ Should I unplug it as soon as the LED turns green?
Not immediately: the green LED indicates the end of the main charge, but the BMS continues internal balancing. Leaving it plugged in for an additional 30 to 60 minutes optimizes cell alignment and preserves battery life.
➡️ Can I use this charger with another Navee?
This model is optimized for the Navee ST3 PRO . It can work with other 48V (13S) models with the same connectors and features, but not with 36V (42V) scooters.
