📌 Original 53.6V vs. 54.6V: Why it matters
The original chargers supplied with the Ninebot G3E MAX and G3D MAX are often set to ≈ 53.6 V instead of 54.6 V. This limit is intended to prevent a battery stored immediately after charging from remaining at 100% for too long. However:
- A battery charged to 53.6V only reaches 95% of its usable capacity — so you lose some of your range.
- BMS only balances cells properly at maximum voltage (around 54.6 V). At 53.6 V, balancing remains partial, which in the long run leads to imbalances and premature shutdowns .
- Charging to 100% will not damage the battery if you use the scooter shortly afterward. Only prolonged storage at full charge should be avoided.
A 54.6 V Source'IT charger therefore allows you to recover 100% of useful capacity , completely rebalance the cells and preserve the lifespan of your Ninebot battery.
Tip: Fully charge to 54.6V before each ride. For long-term storage, keep the battery between 30% and 60% .
❓ FAQ – Ninebot G3E MAX / G3D MAX (48V – 54.6V 2A)
➡️ 53.6V or 54.6V: what’s the difference?
53.6V (original charger) keeps the battery slightly under full charge to limit wear during storage, but reduces autonomy and prevents complete balancing. Conversely, 54.6V (nominal voltage of a 13S pack) allows a full charge and perfect balancing , essential to avoid internal imbalances in the BMS.
➡️ Can I use a 54.6V charger instead of the original one?
Yes, it's safe. The Source'IT charger complies with CE standards and delivers the exact voltage required for 48V (13S) lithium batteries. It ensures a complete, safe, and regulated charge.
➡️ Is 2A suitable for my battery?
Yes. 2A is the ideal current for 48V/13S packs: gentle charging, minimal heating, and optimal longevity. For faster charging, a 4A version is also available.
➡️ Should I unplug as soon as the LED turns green?
Not necessarily. Once the LED turns green, the charger switches to trickle mode: the BMS continues to balance the cells. Leave the charger connected for an additional 30 to 60 minutes every now and then for a perfectly balanced charge.
➡️ Typical charging time
At 2A : approximately capacity (Ah) ÷ 2 hours. Example: 12.5 Ah battery ≈ 6 hours full charge.
