📌 Original 53.6V vs. 54.6V: What Xiaomi is trying to do… and what it entails
On the 4 Pro 2nd Gen , the original charger is often limited to ~53.6V (instead of 54.6V). The manufacturer's intention is laudable : to prevent a scooter stored for a long time just after charging from remaining stored at 100% SOC, which is not ideal for the aging of a Li-ion battery. In practice:
- Storing at 100% is detrimental over time; charging to 100% and starting again immediately is not a problem.
- By limiting the end of charge to 53.6V , the battery never reaches its full end of charge voltage (54.6V for a 13S).
Consequence #1: You never use 100% of the usable capacity
At 53.6V , the Xiaomi 4 Pro GEN2 's battery remains just below full charge, so you start with unused capacity every cycle.
Consequence #2 (the most critical): the pack never really rebalances
Most BMSs start balancing the cells at the end of the charge (towards the maximum voltage). If the charger never goes up to 54.6V , the balancing is incomplete or non-existent; over time, the cells become unbalanced , the battery becomes unstable, and this can lead to premature shutdowns or pack failures .
Why our 54.6V is relevant
The 54.6V – 2A charger allows you to reach the nominal end-of-charge voltage of a 13S pack, in order to:
- Recover full usable capacity when you need it;
- Allow the BMS to balance the cells at the end of charging;
- Stabilize the pack over time (less voltage drifts cell by cell).
Usage tip: Charge to 100% just before riding . For extended storage, leave the scooter at around 30–60 % charge.
🔋 Compatibility – Xiaomi Scooter 4 Pro (GEN2)
Reserved for the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro 2nd Gen with GEN2 connectors . Not compatible with previous generation 36V (42V) batteries or previous sockets.
❓ FAQ – Xiaomi 4 Pro 2nd Gen (48V – 54.6V 2A)
➡️ 53.6V vs 54.6V: What's the difference, and why is it important?
53.6V (original charger) leaves the battery just under full charge to limit the impact in prolonged storage , but you lose useful capacity at each departure and, above all, the BMS does not reach the balancing zone . Conversely, 54.6V (nominal voltage of a 13S pack) allows you to recover 100% of the capacity and balance the cells at the end of charging—essential to avoid drifts and battery cut-offs in the long term.
➡️ Can I mix a 53.6V charger and this 54.6V?
Yes, occasionally. To maintain a good balance :
• Fully charge to 54.6V at least every 2–3 weeks .
• After the green light turns, leave the charger connected for 30–60 min so that the BMS can finish balancing the cells (maintenance phase).
➡️ Is 2A suitable?
Yes. 2A is the standard current for 48V/13S chemistry and consistent with GEN2 connectivity : regular charging, controlled heating and good battery life.
➡️ How to charge daily without damaging the battery?
For daily use, charge normally. If you are not riding immediately, avoid leaving the scooter stored at 100% for a long time: a 30–60% zone is ideal for resting. When you need maximum range or periodically, do a full charge at 54.6V to rebalance .
➡️ The LED turns green, should I unplug immediately?
No. The red → green transition signals the end of charging, but the BMS can still balance . Leaving the charger on for an additional 30–60 min optimizes cell alignment, especially after several partial charges. Repeat every 2 to 3 weeks depending on the use of your Xiaomi 4 pro gen 2.
➡️ Typical charging time?
It depends on the exact capacity of the pack. At 2A , count approximately capacity (Ah) ÷ 2A. Example: 12Ah ≈ 6 h . The last tens of minutes are often used for balancing .
➡️ Compatibility: Does this charger work with other Xiaomi?
This model is intended for the 4 Pro 2nd Gen (GEN2) with its dedicated socket . It is not compatible with older 36V (42V) models or with older generation connectors.
However, it is compatible with the following models: Xiaomi 4 Pro 2nd generation, Xiaomi 4 Ultra, Xiaomi 5, Xiaomi 5 Pro, Navee S65, Navee N65i, Navee S40, Navee S60, Navee ST3 Pro.
